Controller Only set up to read prn file and have trouble creating content through onyx ,which is not set up for prn
Yep - thats how most RIPs work. You download printer specific drivers to Onyx and when you submit the job for print, it creates the .prn file that only that version of printer controller software can read. Thats how you get the correlated information regarding print times, ink usage, coverage, etc. You don't print directly to the print controller, you print from Onyx to a .ps file that gets converted to the specific .prn file for your printer that sits in a shared folder from the controller PC that you designate until you manually pull it from that folder into the print queue folder in the controller. (At least - thats how it has worked on my three CET machines I've had). You can skip that process and have it automatically get sent to pending jobs folder in controller, but I like to pick and choose which jobs go where. Just me, I guess.
