Need Help: Roland VG head soak

I am needing some help on doing a head soak on the VG and all I can find are videos on the VersaCamm. The biggest question I’ve got is if I am supposed to pinch the waste ink line. I am assuming so but wanted to check on here before doing so. I have ran several powerful cleans and done several manual cleans but can’t seem to get the back of the cyan to come in. Thanks for any help or tips you guys might have.

You don't need to pinch anything, just do as you'd do with the countdown and switch off the machine by the main switch while it's counting down

Head soak? Nope. Who told you that this is the next step??
I don't know this printer but you need to find where hose from the cap of that color enters the pump. Take away the hose, arm yourself with syringe of 50cc and such that ink from there. Head will clean. And check your cap anyway. if you can not suck , move head to cleaning position , cover cap with towel, blow instead of sucking, once air passes then suck some cleaning fluid, then do the ink sucking.

If you dont know what i am talking about, better call a specialist to do it. Your head looks perfect. You are going to f----k something if you dont know what you are doing

I have used a syringe for years until I tried using a brake system Bleeder from Harbor Freight and on the very first pull it had the ink flowing perfectly.
I find using this tool saves a great deal of time and frustration over using a syringe.

The syringe method works in many cases but there are just so many places where it can suck air instead of ink unless you have a perfect connection!

Just my opinion. Jim

Just with the syringe i return each ink back again, so no loss. I will check for that tool you are saying. Thanks!

Did you get this sorted yourself? I'm having the same issue but head soak hasn't worked

Do you have a nozzle test you can show? Also, how old are your cap tops, and are they making a good seal?

On a VG with actual Firmware, you can do a "Fill Damper" press and hold Pause and Enter, while switching on.

Sucking with syringes and soaking can have negative effects. Let it be.
The dampers are actively filled by pumps. It's not like the old Rolands with Epson heads.

It could be clogged nozzles or it could be from a head strike or lack of use, hard to say. Flushing could help, but not guaranteed. The lowest cost option would be changing the cap tops first to see if that helps any, as although it only has light use, these machines do require more frequent cap top changes compared to older models where you might be able to get away a little longer without changing.

I've had similar looking test prints on my VG at times when it sits for awhile. As long as the cap tops are in good shape (as Zoogee says), it comes back with some combination of cleaning, manual cleaning, or doing a test print with large areas of C, M, Y, K. I can't speak to any newer machines, but my VG running TR inks goes through a heck of a lot of ink in its daily cleaning procedures, so short of having an air leak, the ink in the lines stays pretty fresh. These machines are built to print in volume, so sometimes the answer is just to use it more.
