Need help with my Gerber

My father-in-law has a sign business. He has been using his Gerber IV E for the past 20 years, and it has worked wonderfully. Unfortunately the orange belt for the blade driver broke. Gerber no longer has parts for this model. Is there anyone that can help? I have checked out Ebay and Craigslist looking for the part, but have not found anything. Would appreciate anybody that could help.
Thanks so much.

The part you want is called the Theta belt. There is some variation in the length of them with different Gerber plotters but I would be surprised if Gerber had discontinued the belt. Many Gerber distributors stock a few on their shelves, so it might be worth calling around.

Replacing one isn't all that hard but not simple either. When done you must also reset the theta home position of the blade. If you buy one from The Plotter Doctor, ask for written instructions to install it.

I got a new Theta belt for my Gerber 4E from Hyatt's about 3 years ago.

That's a good old machine, I finally retired mine in December but am thinking of hooking it back up just for pounce patterns.
