Need Help with Printing Problem

We have a PC-600 which performs flawlessly on regular vinyl, however, when we attempt printing on static cling, we have what looks to be similar to "banding", or streak-marks on the non-printed area as though the print head is dragging past the design area.
I just installed a new foam roller (contacts the ribbon) and it only marginally improved.

This is ONLY an issue on static cling.
(before anyone bothers to comment that you can't print on static cling... we have friends that do it... on the same machine)

it is thick material...can you raise print head height?

i have that issue on static also (we have sp300 and vp540)
not sure if this is good or bad but if i change the print quality setting to
high quality it comes out a lot better
