i have been doing vinyl for a few years. a friend of mine who also does vinyl, bought a Roland pc-600 printer, he could not get it to print only cut, he gave it to me (for free, since he was frustrated with it)

well i use flexisign pro 7.6v2. i can get it to cut, i can not get it to print, i think i am using the wrong ICC profile. i called roland and they can;t help me because i am using flexi, he did walk me through the machine and it is ok and did a test print.

i did get it to print a one color lettering but i can;t do that anymore.

please help before i get frustrated and through it out the window.

It has nothing to do with profiles. It has everything to do with correct drivers, cables, ports and setting up Flexi to deal with both the spot and process colors. If your Flexi is anything other than FlexiSign Pro, it will not control a printer because only FlexiPro has a RIP.

i am using the drive from the cd that came with the machine. what am i doing wrong then, the prints either overlap each one or it is one color and then above that is another color, it does not line up.

Im running a PC60. The main mistake I did was with the carts. Check to see if you have the correct colors in place. It will stop if you trying to use a spot color in place of a process. If thats good and still nothing. Check the tags on the carts that let the optics of the machine know what color each cart is. A little glue to hold it down works great, just dont use super glue. It fogs sometimes clouding the tag. Sometimes they arent on as good so the optics cant read them. Or they may be missing. And if you see that the ribbon has become stripped at the end, its at the end of the ribbon and cant be used so the machine refuses the cart.

Since the machine was free..I guess it's just your time that you are using up. What RIP does the machine normally use? I would go with that.

If it is a crack version of Flexi then I say "good!"

If it is a dongle version of Flexi then call SVA and have support walk you through setting it up properly.
