Hey guys, heres my new business card I was working on last night for my window tinting business.

Let me know what you think about the layout/logo. I am by far not the most experienced with logo creation and started from scratch on this.

Thanks in advance.

Nice card overall, however, at first site, TINT read as T N T and it took me a sec to realize that the numbers above BLACK DIAMOND was a phone number. Also, you may be able to improve the Black Diamond by cutting it and tossing a sparkle or two on it.

lose the background fix the word "tint" and fix that phone number.

If someone can't reasonably get the information from your card that they need what is the point of the card??

Keep it Simple!

From a legibility standpoint... something like this might work better...

I darkened the shadows of the background, added a black strip to your contact info on bottom and used the red only to make your name pop. I also made sure there was a small space between the i and the n of tint.

Added - to be honest the phone number doesn't look like a phone number...

It's not a billboard... Simple isn't always better. It's a business card, sometimes you want them to be flashy to keep the interest of the person you handed it to.

Everything is too scattered....my eyes had to work hard. i would try to keep it more together. Odd place for your name/phone#.... you can find a better home for it. Some color would be nice too. Tints....automotive, commercial, both???

I like it, not too sure about the reds in there, and the background is a bit much but I think it would work, it catches attention. As said before fix the tint. Other than that I think it's a good business card overall

Flashy is fine when it doesn't detract from the message. If you background is so busy that the message is getting lost. What was the point?

Prime example I got a card from a guy putting a new window in my house had a beautiful background with palm trees done tone on tone. Had silk lamination on all the trees. Great looking flashy card. Had his name, number, logo all in the same blue as the background in 5pt font. I can't read it without a magnifying glass and trying to pick out the info from the background. So, now when I want to call him again or share his info I can't. So what was the point of giving me a card ??

You're missing my point.

I like a simple card with a bold graphic and clear information. Too much going on in the background is distracting. Maybe you could adjust the opacity or saturation a bit on the background to lighten it and work on the diamond to make it seem to 'pop' a bit more. The phone number need to look like the number groups aren't floating by themselves.

There's a guy in town here who does auto detailing. His business cards and signs are atrocious. I know he's looking for something 'cool' and 'edgy', but the marketing aspect and message gets lost in his swirling fiery background and lack of contrast between the background and the copy. Then, to try to make it more 'eye catching' he decided it would be a good idea to put a picture of a stripper on them. I believe by doing this he has greatly reduced the size of his target audience and may have actually turned a lot of people off completely by presenting his business in this manner.

You didn't happen to be at the window film conference or tint-off this season where you?

I love what some folks can do with one color.

As for the "readability", it's not like a passing sign, you can always look for
more than a couple of seconds...

Yeah i cheated a bit I guess because I just used the same logo I was using for decals and just sat it on the card layout, hence the number being inclusive on the logo.

I have got numerous comments on either making the red more prominent, or removing all together, but the general consensus is that it doesnt work the way it is haha. Im still working on it, just not getting a result to my liking.

For now I am just doing auto installation, as its my side business to my real job as a police officer. I am going to look to do some residential and possibly commmerical stuff as time presents itself.

I was not at the IWFA show but definitely gonna go next year, just to check everything out.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions!

Maybe tone down the opacity on the background image to a 15-50% to see what that looks like.

Overall looks nice.

I like it but don't like the red at all.
Card is easy to read, anyway the customer is only reading it a foot or so away.
Maybe put Auto * Residential * Commercial across the top.
Move the website address down above the email and same size.
Lose the stars in the phone no.
Get rid of "Professional window film installation", "Full Warranties" & "Tint Specialist" all together.
Maybe move your name over to above the address.
Put service list on back.

I like the addition of a couple spot colors on the card ... here is how they don't work, don't put a hair line stroke on black diamond, kern that word, and don't put black and red next to each other, it dulls the red, seperate with white in between and you keep its vibrancy. Personally I would go with a cyan shade of blue. (bright and cool colored)

The background is a little too busy for info, throw a 30% black overlay on it to make it darker and a little less noise heavy.

Phone number sucks. Stick with traditional formats *(999) 999-9999, 999-999-9999, etc* ... stars read as a separators for individual numbers not formatting seperates for different components of a number.

Choice of typeface and formatting. I like the typeface, clean and works ... your formatting is akin to a schizophrenic patient not making his mind up, you have different skews, proportions, drop shadows, outlines and overall ... nothing consistent from one portion to another on the cards. Make up your mind, make sure the skews on your italic typeface are the same, don't squish info to make it work, don't have a lone drop shadow followed by a lone outline, followed by NO outline. Make solid coherent decisions about this and make sure your formatting shows it. And for the love of all that is unholy, try to limit your 'logo' to having one extraneous formatting element.

I agree with a lot of the suggestions above ... fix up the spacing on the type face - remove the red all together or use it only as part of the focal point - remove the stars on the phone number - also, on your white text along the bottom add a little drop shadow or black outer glow to help it pop off from the light grays (bigdawg did it with a stroke in that example up there which helps a lot ... I typically use a really subtle black outer glow set to multiply and lower the opacity a bit, but either way works!)

Also, it might not hurt to play around with a 2 sided layout ... you can do the logo nice and big one one side to make it really pop ... and shrink that down or just ghost out just the diamond part into the background on the info side freeing you up some space to better arrange all the contact info.

Hope that helps in some small way ... let us see what you decide on! :D

Remove some of the background try half in a solid color and put your info there, use less outlines
