This is a great video of the new features in the 500 series HP Latex units. Enjoy! If anyone is looking for quotes just let me know.

Is there a document released yet showing all available print modes, color modes, ink densities available per pass, etc. on the 500 series?

Here you go sir.

Can that be correct? I thought they were supposed to have a broader range of print densities than that. Looks like that is just a recommended or default setting.

It very well maybe just a default setting. I am sure more information will be available as they get closer to coming out.

The list isn't correct.

The unit we have currently available for testing (owned by HP switzerland) have up to 80% (not 70%) ink limit for 4 Passes, and 120% (instead of 100%) for 8 Passes. There are additional "vivid" modes available with 12 Passes and higher. But the firmware of this machine is still beta, we will know more when the machines are ready for delivery on the second half of august.

Those limits seem awfully low for good color. And if that limit includes optimizer, the amount of ink would be even less. Any pictures of real-world print samples compared to eco and solvent?

@ AF:

Don't be irritated. I agree that regularly you might think that 400% is needed, but at the latex I think (not shure) that the number is an average per ink channel.

I don't think anybody really knows what the ink density numbers mean other than we know 100% is the baseline. Latex ink is a different animal than other types of inks, throw to much ink at it and it gets milky looking and loses gamut. Throw to little and it loses gamut. There is a sweet spot for any given media, pass combination and finding it is the challenge. Whither the new drying setup on the 500s will allow more ink to be laid down before it gets the milky look will be something we will have to find out. Also is the 500s ink different?

Dammit, make it faster!!
Glad to see they addressed the loading method. Wonder if they make an apparatus that will retrofit to the 360?

Ink is the same

The curing condensate remover will be a huge addition in terms of equal drying and even color.

Josh, has HP mentioned if the plasticizer roller is a consumable or permanent?

I believe its permanent but I will double check that.

This is written in the manual:

"The wiper roller foam does not last indefinitely and should be replaced after extended use. The printer tracks the length of substrate wiped by the roller, and displays a warning when replacement is due."

Only the gear is permanent, not the foam around. Wiper Roller is Part Number T7U73A.

I just have in mind that anywhere I have heard about the life time of that wiper roller, but not shure.

I don't think HP will make something. The 500-Series have a complete new stand, and will new be delivered completely assembled.

This makes the most sense... Thanks for the response.
