New Phototex?

Just noticed this new description.

Has something changed?
Always used the Solvent Version on Latex before with no problems. The Aqueous version always had a finish that was more easy to scratch.

Anybody have experience with this new Phototex if it is in fact new?

Our rep came in last week and mentioned a new Phototex formulation with grey blockout adhesive for application over non-white backgrounds.
Maybe it's that?

No that's not it. Still wonder if the Latex, UV, or Aqueous coating is more scratch resistant than the old Aqueous was or if it is the same thing?

Some distributors will sell either for any printer. The pigment is for water base pigment ink. The solvent is in a different color package. Both are excellent products used in the right printer. In my own opinion, the waterbase prints outstanding on my Epson 7700 printer. The solvent is good on my valuejet but I think it is the Epson print manager that makes the difference. I use a clear spray over the pigment ink prints if the install merits the clear.

Photo Tex – The original version of Photo Tex. Coating can be printed with Aqueous, UV and Latex Inks.

Interesting in that it shows I can get in sheets and run it through our digital press.

There is also phototex-O-aqueous that is opaque and useable for aqueous/latex printers.
There is currently no opaque version that will work for solvent printers.

Phototex is actually made in the USA (ohio) FWIW.

I love PhotoTex (OPAS) for solvent printing on an XC-540.

I use the OPAS on temp decals on coming soon signage as well as covering walls.

FALSE. I have a roll of the OPAS, ran on both Latex and Solvent.

Well it certainly prints like crap on Mimaki JV3 printers.
