New Printheads

How difficult is it to install printheads in an XC 540? Do I have to get into the maintainence side of the printer in order to do this? Plan on taking it slow and all. Plenty of experience doing this with my big printers...but not the roland.

Its not too difficult. The Roland manual has detailed instructions on how to do it. One tip I can give you is be careful not to break the manifold. It is very easy to bump one of the dampers and snap the manifold nipple while trying to tighten/loosen the screws that hold the head in place. We use a 12" #1 phillips screwdriver so we can reach the screws while putting the least amount of force on the dampers. It's a rare screwdriver though and the only place I've been able to find this screwdriver is online. Good luck!

www.signagespecialist.com really helped me out when I needed a printhead. they give you instructions and found the printhead the cheapest one in the US! the guy who sold it to me also gave me special tips if I ran into any trouble. You can call them during their normal business hours and they will even walk you through how to do it :)
