New RIP machine....Windows 7????

So were after getting a new computer to run versaworks, will it run from windows 7?? we currently have it running from XP but the machine is abit knackered feel like its time we got it up to date!

It might depend on your printer.

I just got a new 7 machine, but because my sp300v only has usb connectivity,
there isn't a driver for 7 yet. Supposed to be one available sometime around April.

I can load versaworks in 7, but can't install the print driver.

Till then, I'm having to run it in virtual pc xp mode.

Hi Tony, with your sp300 are you using versaworks?
if so, it works fine on windows 7. i am not sure what you mean by printer driver unless you are printing from adobe or corel direct.

Yes, I print and cut straight from corel to versaworks.

This new computer has been a mess.
It took them a month to build it and supposedly ship it.
It didn't show up, called them and they had lost my order.
Finally it shows up, I get all my programs loaded, and the
hard drive went out.. At least it's in warranty.
They're sending a new one next week, so I will have to re-install everything.

It's the versacamm usb 4.0 driver that won't install in 7.
When I contacted my Roland dealer, they told me it's because there
isn't a driver for 7 yet.

Should have it going again next week, and will try again.

Is there a way to get the driver to load in 7?

Can't you hook up the printer with a crossover Ethernet cable? That's how my sp540 is hooked up and I am able to print fine with versaworks in windows 7. The only program I run in xp mode is my flexi 7.6.

The sp300v only has one usb port......no ethernet.
That's why I was told my model won't work without a windows 7 usb driver.

Tony, who did you buy the computer from? A month to build and ship? Then hard drive failure? Ouch.

We have a SP300v and ours runs on windows 7 just fine...the driver didnt want to load from the disk...but when installing versaworks it installed it (when asked) if i remember right. (we use it on 3 win7 pcs all the time).

Onyx 7.3.2 on Windows 7 works well.

It's a new Dell computer...and after this mess, probably my last Dell.
Right now, I'm back to my old 2002 dell. Glad I left all my programs and
stuff installed, so it was ready to go back to work.

I will try the Windows 7 install again when the new drive gets installed.
They are sending someone out to install it, probably geek squad, and
hopefully sometime this week.
