New to me...

Is anyone familiar with this mounting hardware? I need to remove these clips, but i have never seen anything like this before, granted, i dont do a lot of these repair type jobs. The customer wants the new letters mounted directly to the concrete, so all this needs to come off. Hiw do i remove, what kind of damage am i looking at? Any help is appreciated.

looks like a pop rivet head or a set anchor.

for the after damage, you will have holes in the concrete and then depending on how rough you are there may be tool markings

To remove them you either drill them out or hack them off with an angle grinder or reciprocating saw.

Yep, hammer-set anchors. As mentioned, drill the expander drive pin (in the center) out. It's pretty easy to do with a good bit. Then pry out the anchor. The hole will likely be ¼" diameter. Concrete patch in a Ziploc bag with the corner cut off makes for a good applicator.

If not trying to keep the angles just get a right angle grinder and grind them off! It's a lot faster than drilling!

If you grind them off and then remove the sign, aluminum angle or whatever else the anchor goes through, you still have the anchor sticking out of the wall. Sometimes the holes were drilled deep enough to hammer them in, sometimes they weren't.

For most of the customers I deal with, they'd prefer the wall be patched with concrete rather than see an anchor still jammed into the wall.

Guess it comes down to what your customer would rather see. If your customer doesn't care, sure, grind it off and hammer the excess down into a mushroomy lump.
