New Versaworks Update SUCKS!

Has anyone else done the latest update to VW? Ever since I did it, I have had nothing but problems with it crashing all of the time. It is random as well.

No problems here.

I also updated my firmware which I noticed was available.

Just a thought... check your firmware is up to date too. When they update VW, it usually requires the latest firmware as well.

Hmmm. I haven't done either of those. I do have some print/laminate/cut jobs in the works, so I will finish them up first. I did't notice a FW update.

I have never had these problems before after an update, which is why I didn't reinitialize.

Depends on your printer - maybe there isn't an update for your model. But always worth checking.

It would be good if you could export your settings then initialize and reimport your queue settings etc.

It's a pain in the rear end to do every time you want to update.

You can select all the jobs before the initializing, right click, click on save, make sure you select "rvw+source file" from the dropdown, and save (to a drive that has enough space! if you have alot of stuff it can be quite large).

Then do what you need to do, reiniti etc... then just drag and drop your file back into the queue and it should all be there.

Note - the save procedure will generate one big file which contains all your jobs... so it looks like there's only one file saved, but it's actually put everything into the one... when you drop it back into the queue, it will split them up again automatically.

Give it a test first though before deleting anything and make sure what I just said works.

I'm not talking about the job settings. I'm talking about my queue settings for setting the default profiles, the speed settings, the auto nest and rip etc etc..

Oh sorry...

well, I guess there has to be a file that stores all that...

just a guess... but might be...

C:\Program Files\Roland VersaWorks\VersaWorks\Printers\**printermodel**\Preset.xml

Your a clever one. I will give it a go before I update and report back.

Having to redo all of your queue settings is what really sucks, but, after doing this, it is working a lot better now. No crashes yet! Knock on wood.
