New VS540i...issues with black cutting out

Hey Guys....been exactly seven days since delivery on this and now I'm having a new issue. Trying to print two 24"x32" A-board skins side-by-side. Majority of it solid black.

Seems the black may be cutting out? Or?? I've tried printing this file three times on different oracal medias with the same results - although the light streak is in different spots. Always horizontal.

Oracal 3165G Profile
Heaters at 104/100
Black is BK21A spot color
Pre-Press

It appears the light streaks aren't starting all the way edge to edge -- it fades in about 3" from one side, and fades back out 3" on the other.

Any help art this part would be great.

Looks like a heater line caused by paused print or the like. The heater settings of 104/100 are sufficient.

Have you tried the GCVP Profile on the Oracal 3651? Change Pre-Press to Max Impact or Sign and Display Is this Air Egress adhesive?

I would also like to see a nozzle test, just to rule out issues there.

I have seen issues of drop out happen during an install and the heads taking longer to prime properly, but 7 days later ..??

Nozzle test shows perfect - all nozzles firing. Normally we print everything max impact, but for this particular one we can't due to a photo at the top half. Didn't want all the colors in her face orange so we print all photos prepress. Print was not paused, we reprinted a couple of times (a couple on 3164, a couple on 3165RA) with same results. 3165 was air release, but the 3164 was not. The stripe moves everytime so it's not the artwork. We have tried re-ripping as well.

Cap station looked a little chewed up so they replaced it but still not fixed. They also ran a choke clean...it seems to have gotten slightly better, but still visible. I think they're going to try damper and linear encoder today. To me it looks like it's starving...I thought it could possibly be the heaters, but it goes away and comes back in such a thin spot I don't think it's possible it could heat up and cool down that fast, there'd have to be more of a gradual stripe

Something to try............

Completely save the file as a totally different file name and re-send it. Sometimes there is something corrupt in the file and simply changing the name can fix it. Also, sometimes your signal to the printer is interrupted and doesn't send a complete data supply. Check those connections, also.

Forgot to follow up on this:

Tech replaced damper and that completely fixed the black issue...all is well now, carry on - nothing to see here :)
