Hello everyone! I am a young graphic designer from Chicago (lincolnwood/skokie area) I mainly do web design and graphics but recently felt like I should take a different route towards printing and signs. To be honest I don't know where to start and a little nudge in the right direction would be appreciated! Thanks for your time & help community and I hope to do the same for this board in the future.

Buying equipment is easy ... Knowing your craft is HARD. Keep working on getting better with your design skills and get a job at a sign/print shop. You will soon figure out if its something you want to do or not.

Seriously consider working for an established company for four to five years.
Take note of all the items and skills they have accumulated.

You will be amazed at how complex this really is.
