I am new to this forum and sign making. Been doing embroidery for a long time. Bought a Roland GX 24 and just getting to learn the machine. Cutting only names at the moment but want to get into simple lawn signs and heat applied graphics for t-shirt designs. Have not used the cutter all that much but, it seems the pinch rollers have to be replaced because I am getting too much left to right travel. Roland tells me this a result of flat spots on the rollers? Also interested in ratings of software to calculate end price? Also best sources for graphic software.

Welcome from another long time embroiderer.

Tracking issues could also be if you are cutting a lot length at a time. That would probably be my first guess if you just got a new GX24. If I'm doing a huge run of applique shapes, I might have to break it up into 2 or maybe 3 runs if I'm using the GX24.

I just use Calc. Simple, but effective.

Also best sources for graphic software.

What specific software are you looking for? Based on your profile, it looks like you already have DRAW and that is sufficient to run the plotter.
