hello, I was cleaning out a contaminated line and as I connected it back to the head I apparently bumped a ribbon cable to the head and my machine would not power on ..after discovering the ribbon slightly ajar I reseated it and the printer powered on except the yellow/magenta head produced nothing on the test print although the black/cyan did ..

so I did the unthinkable and swapped the magenta ribbon over to the cyan head to see if it would print cyan where magenta is on the test print .. the test print produced nothing ..no print at all ..

did I fry the heads or is there a way to reset them?

any help is appreciated .. of course chuckles are fine
thanks

Sounds like fried ribbon cable and possibly fuse(s), print carriage board and maybe head...

Never work on the printer with the power cable plugged in... Unless you know EXACTLY what you can and can not do.

Ditto what Bobby said.

The fuse was shot on yellow/magenta, when you crossed the magenta it fried the fuse for the black/cyan.

Check cables for burn marks, if present replace them as well. Just to make sure the cables are good, check continuity for each contact.

At the minimum, you burnt the fuse, there will be a good chance that you damaged the transistors on the board too.

We sell repair parts for the versacamm. If you have a problem testing for bad components or don't feel comfortable working/soldering components on the board, we also repair boards with a 24-48 hr turnaround.
