not happy with laminate

I don't think any other business puts up with more product garbage than our own.

I have a large job to do and a fair bit is due tomorrow morning. I printed everything pristine and high quality. I came in saturday night to laminate it all so that it would be ready to go this morning. Now as I laminate the prints to pvc I can see in the laminate these lines that you can find sometimes in vinyls like a continual rub. The lam is gloss and in the light these are pretty noticeable to me.
Because of the rush nature I have no choice but to continue. What I find very annoying is that material like this, that has only one purpose can leave the factory and be sold to me and you cant detect anything until it is to late.

I say this now.... if I get any flack from my customer on this, I will not only not pay for the lam but everything I owe that supplier will be held until they resolve the cost of possibly ruining my reputation.

Is it an r-tape lam?

I had a roll that had that.. went away after a bit though. I could see where the lam was sticking to spots on the backing paper and pulling the adhesive a little.

Sounds like temporary deglossing called mottling. It goes away when the sun or any heat source works on it for a few days. Been around for years and, I can only assume, the manufacturers have no means to prevent it ... or they would. It is only a problem in terms of the customer noticing it when the work is first seen.

hope it all works out. i have noticed things like this before and like you said it happens when it is a rush and no time to resolve the issue but alot of times our eye is not the same as the customer and they don't pick up on the imperfection...fingers are crossed

I thought about modeling and hit it with a heat gun but still it is there.

what burns my azz is that it is us, the final stage of completing a sign that has to deal with it. You think if i call my supplier they will do anything to compensate me? How about the mfg? The sole purpose of a laminate is to cover something and be free of irregularities. Worst of all is that you cant detect it when it is on the backing paper.
