not.sire.if.its.possible, latex.conversion?

With all the hype over the hp latex printer, and my dislike (putting it mildly) of my ecosolvent ink... I was wondering, is a latex conversion possible? I don't know much about the differences in the delivery between solvent vs. Latex, etc.. so I am sure its a crazy notion... Been thinking about flushing and converting to regular solvent since I'm so tired of having to laminate EVERYTHING I print, but might hold.off if this us possible down the road.

Thoughts?

negative. your heaters wont get hot enough to fuse the latex to the media among pretty much 100 other differences.

Not gonna happen with latex ink. Why not convert to a hotter solvent ink if you looking for better bite with PVC media?

There is a way using Sepiax ink which has a formulation specifically for Epson DX4 and DX5 printheads. Its not specifically a latex ink though - they list it as a water based resin ink. Supposedly will print on near anything with the durability of solvent ink.

Graphics One is the US distributor for Sepiax.

I've only heard of a couple people actually doing the conversion though and if I recall one was a total nightmare and they ended up converting it back to solvent.

Print heads

Your print heads may not like the switch. You would need to remove all trace of the solvents before introducing a water based ink. I hear there are several flushes involved and may not be worth the risk of trashing your macine. We tried it once for a customer who wanted to go from solvent to aqueous inks and she ended up buying new print heads, dampers, pump and lots of labor.

Wow, looking today, I didn't realize how bad my typing was on my android phone. I need smaller fingers, or they need a better keyboard :)
