Not sure if I'm using the correct terminology................................................................................

Nope. I did that on purpose. The word of the day was fallacious, cause like jb, I read it differently too...... and quickly got interested. Then, I saw it for what it was.

does anyone know how many sheets of copier paper are in a ream? How about cardstock? (heck, how many elephants are there in a ream?)

okay, here is another one: Using standard accepted measuring practices, what is heavier, a pound of feathers or a pound of gold?

I believe a skein is an undefined length loosely coiled for ease of use.... I don't remember G-ma talking length other than they used to be sold by weight and modern commercial skeins tend to be the same size.... Hank? 1 litre of Henry Weinhard's finest.... as in "long day! Pass me a cold Hank!"

Skeins vary, but they're typically around 50 to 450 grams in weight and contain anywhere from 50 to 1000 yards of cording. Just depends on the thickness and weight of the material. Same think with a hank of beads, it just depends on the size of the beads.

Both of these ranges exceed standard deviation and significant difference. I declare a skein to be nonsensical at best, hersey at worst.

It's better to have two hands than one glove.
Why am I getting the feeling a spelling bee is coming up........... or a new thread for all of us to learn new words, their uses and meanings ??
Good idea, here's a couple to start on... Retromingent and Horotater. If those prove too easy, try Catafalque.

So how many of you remember a “nickle bag”. That was a varied bag weight.
A nickel and dime bag were always clearly delineated in my circles, 10 dimes to a zip, a nickel being half that. What was always stupid to me was a dub sack, supposedly 1/5 of a zone, $20 price was locked though, so your dub varied wildly between a dime and quarter. Then it's all out the window when someone asks for a lid...

Nickel and dime bags were named for the cost, not how much was in them. And then there was a lid, which was a volume measurement based on a jar or coffee can lid.

Great to know we have so many pothead dealers and buyers out there. I bought all mine in bottle form. Changed over to cans some years later, then to straight whiskey. Now, I've been dry for about 6 years. Need to be on top of things all the time for various reasons.
