Obtaining a Credit Report

James Burke

Being a grandpa is more fun than working
Okay...so I have this customer who's dinked me over for the last time...but they are also one of my key suppliers for a particular product I use. Giving them the axe will be a little more painful than most customers, and so I'm going to give them one more chance but only after a credit report has been done.

#1 Who do I see about initiating the credit report...attorney, account, my banker, a notary public, etc...?

#2 What information or paperwork do I need from the customer to initiate a credit report?

Thanks,

Jim

When it comes to a business the only option I'm aware of for a credit report is Dunn and Bradstreet. http://www.dnb.com/

Unless the company is a sole proprieter anyways but I'm not sure about the legality of trying to get a report on an individual.

I like to look at the clerk of the courts website in the county their business is located. Most clerks offices have searchable databases.

You can learn a lot about a company be checking who they are suing and those who are suing them.

Dunn and Bradstreet parrots back the information you provide them. It is also dated.
