Offset path help

rockz12

Specializing in the strange and unusual
(Assuming Illustrator) Sounds like you need to outline the stroke... Object, path, outline stroke. Then you can offset that

Is it still text? If it is convert it to outlines then "outline stroke" or "expand" it

No, it is outlined already. Instead of just applying a regular stroke, I selected add new stroke and put that behind the fill. Now, all I can select is the fill and the 'outline' won't offset. I haven't used this method before so I'm lost.

It worked for me, here is how I did it...

Select the image and "COPY"

Move to a neutral part of the screen and "PASTE" >do not move the screen<
"UNGROUP"

"OBJECT">"PATH">"OUTLINE PATH"

then go to "PATHFINDER" and select "ADD TO SHAPE AREA" and then "EXPAND"

the hit paste again, get rid of your original black stroke and you have an aligned vector with vector outline...

Sound like a lot but should take 30 seconds max...

It is sometimes better to use "EXPAND", "EXPAND TRANSPARENCY" or "FLATTEN TRANSPARENCY", especially with thicker strokes.
