offsite installations

Just curious what people's installation fees are when you go offsite and graphics are being provided? Do you use your "shop time" number or more because you are taking your tools with you and don't have the benefit of having all your tools onhand? How much more? Is there a general rule of thumb?

Pretty much what you feel comfortable doing..... or getting away with.

If you're doing something inside on a wall or whatever, I would think 1.5 times your normal shop rate would be good. If you're gonna be outside most likely doubling it would be good. Remember, you still hafta pay for the shop upkeep and overhead while you're gone and now you do not have the convenience of working with everything at your fingertips...... and don't forget about all the dumb questions and stares you're gonna get.

completely agree. Not only that but it's a 3rd party who is making the deal. That 3rd party is a sign company in Ft Worth (4 hours away). I hate dealing with middle men.

Sometimes I just figure out a price I want to do it for and add quite a bit to it to pad it and go in with a total price. I'd rather do it for that price and regardless of how long it takes or how short of a time it takes I get paid well. Just make sure you figure it out and make all your calculations count.

I don't like customer supplied graphics either unless I tell them if I make a mistake they'll be on the hook for it since I didn't prepare them.
I had a job many years ago where the tiles met up perfectly but the colors did not match at all. The browns went to almost purplish color. Greens to blue. Those trees were really gross looking.

How is that insulting ?? I know several jose's and that's just a fact of life.

As for meeting mensa people, maybe you weren't impressed cause you had no idea what they were thinking or saying.

As for me, I'm still sticking to dumb looks and stares from everyone..... including those self proclaimed smart people. They're only smart if you engage with them and give them credit for being smart, but not well endowed in the common sense department.

I do work for geniuses all the time, but they sell to stupid clients. Putting a bank door vinyl up on a glass door, I'm guaranteed: 2 ladies saying "I need to get you to clean my windows." 1 dusty old **** who stands 8' back and to the side silently watching, 1-2 young fellows saying "well that's easy!", and of course 3+ people who don't see anybody in the way and just shove the door in your face.
You mean no one tells you it's crooked or misspelled and you're supposed to act like that was a unique and clever joke you've heard 10000 times

Vinyl installs offsite minimum $325 for an installer + cost of the vinyl on any small job. We prefer larger tickets Small jobs that take guys away from bigger wall wraps or sign installs, have to reap or are not worth the time. If they need it they'll pay. If not, toodles mccoy. We prefer to price hard on small non profitable situations.

Believe it or not, I was in Mensa, briefly, 40 years ago. I wasn't impressed either. Bunch of losers (including me).

A high IQ has little impact on how successful a person will be in life. I would gladly trade a measure of intelligence for an equal measure of grit and perseverance.

I think that people who don't have a clue often become the most successful entrepreneurs because they don't know what they don't know.
