Ok, Who on here installed trailer advertising for $450 with 2 hour travel time?

The replies to that thread on that forum make me sick. They are talking about how a shop wants a few hundred and they bought a vinyl cutter and did it for $10 blah blah.

Hell, i don't care if i have $10 in material or $1000, i will charge what the value of the job is and you will either like it or you will hit the road. Your not paying for the material as much as you are the sign companies time to know what to do given the job you ask them about and the value your getting with advertising.

I wouldn't pay someone whos a jack of all trades a few hundred to mow my lawn each month anyway because frankly, i can buy a few hundred dollar tractor and do it myself! In all honestly i don't even have a lawn but if i did that's what i would do! haha

I'd rather learn a nice craft like the sign industry then become someone who can mow lawns, fix roofs, concrete sidewalks, style hair, fix electrical problems and bake cookies. I dislike being one sided but i haven't met someone who mows lawns yet who sticks to just that, it's always a side job to 54 other things.

This is a great thread, I left, then I and wanted to come back to it, to find it I just searched "vinal". Interestingly 7 other threads came up too.

Someone should go over to that board and post they would have done the $450 job for $250. The guy won't sleep for a week.

Truth be told I am like them too, I bought a zero turn mower rather than hire a lawn service.

I can cut 10 acres for $10 lol.

I get to meditate and a great tan. Everyone thinks I must golf to have a tan before and after the summer.

I love my hustler. http://www.hustlerturf.com/

I know about 5 people in Sarasota that do that ... Completely frown on it but what can you do. A friend of mine started doing side work ... at least I convinced my buddy in the SRQ to get his own plotter and supplies so when he does it he's just doing extra work on the side and not stealing time and supplies from the shop. He's doing pretty well considering he's got his DBA and is now him and another friend doing some nice work.
Prior to 1984 in sarasota, the phone book had no more the 8 full time sign painters. when i moved to pensacola in 1998, the sarasota phone book had over 100 sign/vinyl shops))))))))))

Oh, there were probably scab houses for sign painting then too ... Always going to be scabs ... and the unskilled trying to make an unhonest buck.
