For the life of me I can not find my 9' long straight edge I use for cutting down my material. I just used the fricken thing a couple hours ago. Someone must be messing with me or something.

Maybe I have a ghost hiding chit from me.

If you find it. Let me know

Thanks..

Found it! I went and looked at the security video to see what I did with it. It got covered with dibond when the delivery guy dropped it off.

Oh well. Back to work.

I did find about 15 squeegees and 2 xactos while looking. No winning lottery ticket but I did find a 20 under the table.

Lol that's hilarious.... now you've got me thinking, maybe I should install cameras in our shop?

so I can re-trace my foot steps when I loose things on a daily basis!

Hmmm, not a bad Idea. What happens when I finally loose my mind, though?

Not to supervise employees.....more so I can re-trace my foot steps when I loose things on a daily basis!

This was the first time I used it for that. Would have saved a lot of time if I would have thought about watching it in the first place. Took me about a minute to find where I used it.

It can get addicting to watch if you have an outside camera and have a lot of people near you. My alley was a gathering spot for a while until three kids beat up another kid. Had it all on video.

We used to blame the constant theft of tools in our shop on the "Sign Shop Bandit",...He is a lousy thief,... but he sure can hide stuff,.....

When I worked for a glass company, the boss/owner would steal everyones tools. Always said they were his. I traded all my snap on tools back to the snap on guy and got the hot pink handled tools just so he wouldnt take them. He hated pink and would spend 10 15 mins looking for another tool before he would use mine after that.

  • Ever find your phone in the refrigerator ??
  • How about your credit cards ??
  • Ahhh, a watch after washing your hands ??
  • Squeegees ??
  • Oh yeah.... the phone thing again.... can't tell you how many times, I've had to call my cell phone from a land line to locate the stupid thing.
  • Keys ??
  • A whole tool box ??
  • An order that you just took five minutes ago ??
  • Artwork that someone just handed you and after they left, you spend two hours looking for it.
  • Ever have a customer drop off artwork and later on he/she calls you and says, they took the artwork with them after picking it up after dropping it off and you just spent the last day or so looking for it and couldn't call them cause you didn't want to look like a total idiot ??

Guess how I know some of these...... ??

How about the glasses on top of the head trick? Or <ahem> the paper in the hand while you rummage around with the other looking for said paper?

Glasses ?? Haha........ not a problem anymore. That was probably the highest on my list. I went to WallieMart and bought like about 15 pairs and have them everywhere.... including the 'Main Reading' chambers.

I was looking two hammer drills today for about 20 mins. then it hit me they are in the bucket truck at home. The last time I used them the one on the bucket truck the batteries where dead. I buy 2 or 3 of everything and still don't have what I need when I need it. I don't leave the truck at the shop because someone will break into it. It sucks removing all the tools after each job.

Cameras as invaluable. I have 4 outside with nightvision and audio. Just 2 weeks ago a neighbor (who's been aware of the cameras for 6 years) was pacing while on the phone thinking he was alone and talking about something he obviously didn't want me or anyone else to hear. That little bit of intelligence will forever change our relationship for the better on my end as we all know sometimes it's difficult to judge a book by it's cover especially when someones so good at hiding how 2 faced they really are. Once again, system pays for itself.

I don't feel so bad about doing these things now that I know I'm not the only one.

The other day I took a lap around the shop looking for my olfa only to notice that I was holding it in my hand.:banghead:

I was heading out to a small install last week, and needed our plastic folding table that we setup to lay stuff out on while onsite.

I spent literally 30 minutes looking all over the back room for it and nothing. I was just about to walk out the door and go buy another one, when I realized it was sitting right in front of me the whole time--in the middle of the room, unfolded with stuff on top.

Doh!

Thats too funny.Sounds like your your shop would be a fun place for a scavenger hunt. When i usually lose things there usually in the most obvious places. When i was 17 i was so drunk i lost a car and it took me a month of calling tow companies to find it.Try explaining that one to your parents.

Lost a fairly big down payment check once.(almost 2 grand). Finally turned up about 10 days later in a spiral notebook I use for going out on bids, etc.

I was sweating bullets and did NOT want to have to call the custy back and beg them to stop payment/re-issue.

A couple of times I've had a moment of panic when I'm digging around looking for and can't find my cell phone... only to realize that I am TALKING to someone on it.
(duh!)
