Old School Trucker Font

We had a client come in today while we were out and wants his truck lettering done in an old school truckers font (I would guess a font that was used on trucks in the 40's or 50's). Anything with tails is out as he wants it arched on the top & bottom lettering.

Can anyone suggest to me some styles or fonts to look up here?

Back in those days most arched lettering on truck was hand done. Simple block styles such as helvetica bold would come close.

The Fontry has some great old-school fonts.
Most are from the 1900s-30s but the Egyptian style was quite popular as a knock-out block font up into the 1960s.
Signfont's Truckin' is also a real workhorse of a font, with many uses.

Should be fixed up on cool fonts for awhile.

Lots of shops would screen print onto clear mylar. That screen could be cut by hand or photographically, then burned.
