Online photo storage and sharing

Which online photo storage/sharing sites do you recommend? What do you like or not like about the one you use?

I use Picasa for all of my online photo sharing needs. You get one gig free and can buy an extra 20 gigs for $6 a year. People also don't need an account to view the album you share and prints can be ordered from any retailer they wish. You can also have Picasa stamp a watermark automatically for you when you upload. Albums can be a group project as well, allowing others to contribute to the album.

Oh yeah, there is a good app for it too!

I use Flickr. I don't like the Yahoo! attribution, but it's the only service that fully stipulates that you own the photos you upload. Also, you can apply whatever copyright scheme you want to any individual photo you want.

It's a little pricier than other services, at just above $20 a year if you want a pro account (regular account is free), but I'd say it's well worth it.

On one hand, I'd like to be able to share photos without the person I'm trying to share them with being required to have an account. On the other hand, I don't want just anybody being able to see them. Does that make sense?

I'd also like for the high resolution version of the images to stay in tact and be downloadable should I have a hard drive failure and need to get them back.

Easy communication with FB and Twitter along with an app. for the iPhone would also be super handy. Being able to import the tags that I already have on the photos would also be very cool.

Am I just dreaming?

I don't know if Picasa has an email restriction, but Flickr's viewing restrictions either mean they're visible, or they're not, for the most part. If you don't want just anyone seeing them, the person you're sharing them with would have to also have an account, and you'd have to set your photo to be viewable by contacts only, which would be a pain for something like an approval process, or even just sharing family photos.

You could upload your photos to Dropbox. There, you can generate an item specific URL that you can then send to specific people. Without accessing that URL, your files are invisible to all but those that have administrative access to your Dropbox's root folder.

Edit: To include Twitter and FB in the mix, you could then make an image post on Twitter, and have your FB account automatically re-post your twitter updates, while your original file sits in your Dropbox. Bit of a Rube Goldberg solution, but it could get the job done.

You can create a password for the album and give that to the person you want to have view it or restrict it to invite only which means you must send an email invite to see the album. Although that email can be shared by the recipient to others.

I have a personal account that I use for work as well. I will take pictures in the field with my phone and upload them to my work album and then it will automatically send an activity update email to the shops email.

That sounds pretty decent, actually. I just can't get around the interface. If I had to share photos with groups or with individual restrictions, I may force myself to get over it.
