Opinions on New 54" printer to buy

I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death. I'm heading out to the SGIA show and was contemplating on a new 54" printer. I currently have a Roland SP-300V and has proven to be a great workhorse with minimal problems but was wanting to upgrade to a larger format and better print quality.

With all of the latest technological advancements out there and with all of the combined experience on this board someone could point me in the right direction.

All of the printing I do is vinyl and focus primarily on small to medium size decals, small signage and window perf. I am looking for something that will print and cut, a proven workhorse and a budget I am working with is 30k. Any advice?

My only advice is don't get a 54", go for 60-64", the price difference is pocket change. You won't always use the 5' width but it's really nice to have when you need it.

I guess I will also recommend Mimaki, we've had several of their machines and they are fantastic. And you can get a 63" JV33 for around $16k if you look for a good deal, maybe even better than that. For well under your $30k budget you can get that plus a good 63" plotter and a good RIP and still have some money left over.

or for $21K you can get the new Roland RE-640 and a matching Roland cutter, RIP included in the price.

Be patient. Roland is rolling out series 4 in 5 days. Could be something cool, could be a yawn.
