Just wanted to give a heads up here. Next week I will be gone for the week on a business trip to Atlanta. I will still be able to embroidery digitizing and things along those lines while I am gone. Response time will be a little slower, due to trip, but I should still be able to get everyone taken care of in a timely fashion.

But before y'all get too teary eyed, I will still be on here sporadically through the week. I won't stop spreading sunshine into everyone's life.

If any one has any food recommendations for Atlanta I am all ears.

I'll bump this back up on Friday to get the end of the week crowd. Those that have received patterns in the past will get an email from me later on in the week, in case they miss this post.

what part of the city are you staying in?

if you are in buckhead..u simply must stop into 'yogurberry' it isn't the best frozen yogurt but if you are lucky enough to catch the owner while he is working (he is usually there late afternoon & evenings) I promise you will never forget the encounter..he is the biggest ball of energy you will ever encounter (in an amazingly small body lol)i have never met ANYONE as enthusiastic & excited about anything..& I will simply leave it @ that..oh the stories I could tell but take the time to eat in there ,talk with him & check out the photos on the walls (i'm in a couple of them too) if it is a friday night/saturday there is a good chance of spotting atl celebrities if you are into that,i find it to be a pain in the rear myself :)

I know it is a chain but you can not go wrong @ the Capital Grill if you want a nice night out.

Canoe is also nice if you are wanting something to remember, I have had better food but the service & setting make it something to remember..the food is by no means 'bad' lol..just not all that it is made out to be imo as one of the premier restaurants in the nation supposedly.

not food but if you have never been to 'Richard's variety store' ...u should..for the kid in all of us.

what part of the city will you be visiting? 1st trip or are you an old hat? What do you want to eat, see,do?

& you don't go to the varsity for the quality of the food imo but the xperience..probably one of the worst dogs I've ever had but I still take almost evryone who has never been there once...what do you want what do you want :)..u go for the atti2d lol

Going to be in the Norcross area. Closest to where I'm going to be spending the majority of the day.

Not my thing and besides that, I'm so out of touch with who is a celebrity and who isn't even on a National scale that I probably even wouldn't know. Joe Diffie lives in a house next to my back pasture and he was there with his little girl while I had one of the horse out and apparently I must have given him a dirty look while they were petting one of the horses. Never knew it was him.

I know it is a chain but you can not go wrong @ the Capital Grill if you want a nice night out.

Well, the nice thing is that it isn't a chain around here, at least that I'm aware of. One thing about chains that should be reasonably safe is that you should be used to a standard (although that does vary unfortunately) of quality. So they can be a safe bet in that regard, although I have eaten at bad Pappadeaux's before. So it isn't always a sure thing.

I'll give it a look see, if nothing else.

Always good to do every once and a while.

I'm an old hat as far as dealing with the traffic in Atlanta it self. However, this is the first time that I'm actually staying in Atlanta period. Before it's always been passing though.

As to see and do. Most of it will have to be confined to the late afternoon and early evenings as that is about the only time I will have open this go around. Going to be dealing with business the majority of the day the entire week. Driving their Sunday afternoon. Heading back Saturday morning.

The one thing that I like to do as far as eating goes, is get a "taste" of the local region. I can do chain places, if it's more of a regional chain, not one I'm going to find in the areas that I'm normally in. The one chain that you have mentioned so far will be fine as I've never heard of it. Even if there is one in my stomping grounds, I'm unaware of it.

That's too bad. I do like my food.

I don't know what kind of food you are looking for, but I know Atlanta alot more than I'd like to admit. If there is something special you want to eat, let me know and I'll send youin the right direction. I take it you are not looking for a chain.
Bar-B-Que HICKORY HOUSE
Oysters Pappadeaux
Both of these not to far.

the Capital Grill is not 'local food' it is just guaranteed great food,if you are taking 'someone special' ;) you simply can not go wrong..parking sucks, but they have valet. & you can totally walk in jeans & a polo..it is one of those places where dinner lasts for a few hours & you are glad that it did.

I'm not into oysters or much seafood but my amigos who eat those frightening things have never said a bad word about pappadeux seafood kitchen.

trust me celebrities & that culture do not 'float my boat' if you find yourself near yogurberry..stop in. It is a micro place but you will NEVER forget the owner.

who is Joe Diffle? I'm going to have to use google sigh.

there is a couple good pho restaurants in the area if you like a good bowl of pho.

mojitos has good cuban food.

Avoid the red & green steakhouse like the plague.

I find myself in the ATL almost every weekend that I am 'home' as a man can only eat so many chicken 'fingers' & I need some ethnic cuisine,so that is my hide-a-way from my small town.

Also, you should go to the ORGINAL PANCAKE HOUSE for a great and unusual breakfast.
I believe they have a location in NORCROSS. They are a little pricey, but they have an Apple Pancake the size of a small mountain that is fresh and amazing. They also have a wide variety of pancakes, crepes, home fried potatoes......OMG I'm hungry now.

Just me on this trip. Ball and chain has to stay back to take care of the horses.

I am a little leary of valet parking and my DRW. I might just have to take the 150 on this one if I think I'm going to go there.

I'm not an oyster fan, but I do like Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen (is there a Pappacitas (sp?) right next to it? Usually is, if it is the same Pappadeaux.

I might run in there to see what it is like. Late afternoon and evenings are what I have off, so that might work out.

mojitos has good cuban food.

I do like my latino food (mainly mexican, I am 6 gen. native Texan after all(Plano)).

Avoid the red & green steakhouse like the plague.

Any other steakhouse to take it's place or is that pretty much it locally?

I heard that.

I'll check to see if they have one in Norcross. If they do, I might get to that when I leave Saturday morning.

if you want an amazing steak, capital grill order the delmonico, one of the best steaks I've ever had ..anywhere...& I have friends who raise some very pampered angus. An order of their extremely expensive 'smashed potatoes' that cook for something like 13hrs, an apetizer...save room for the cheesecake (haha just get it to go...but getit) made with a shortbread crust versus the 'usual' ..Big Dawg will back me up on this one ;) ...& stuff your pockets with their fruit candies on the way in & out..or just tell them you like them & if you hit it right they'll send you home with a bag.

you simply can not go wrong @ the capital..what day are you going...im getting hungry thinking about it.

alot of hotels offer complimentary transpo to & from local spots. You are about 15 minutes away in Norcross, but if there is a group that wants to go to Buckhead you might get lucky.

Sounds like I have one winner here. I don't know yet when I'm going to do what. Probably go through all the suggestions. Look at menus, look at locations and try to see what works where in the schedule.

There will be a group, so I might be able to swing it. I know the hotel I'm driving to does have shuttle service.

Shouldn't have said that. I do like my Mexican food. Alicia says a little too much, but alas, it is what it is.
