Most auto responders are done via your web host control panel.

Outlook is great, Outlook Express not so much@ but it's free.

Give a look to Mozilla's Thunderbird as an email client.

But..
in OE I think you can create a rule in "Message Rules" to send a response back to any incoming message...it's pretty clunky as i recall.

Thunderbird should be used over both outlook and outlook express.
It's a superior mail client.
GOOGLE the comparisons.
I use it in combo with MailWasher Pro and it makes me tingly.
