Outsourced screen printing, This sound right?

Hey guys, I outsource my screen printing to a wonderful merchant on here and wanted to see how i was as far as pricing this for retail.

I usually take my shirts and double the cost it costs me including the drop shipping to my wholesaler then take the screen printing cost and double that also.

I just quoted a guy after doing this and now i think i could have marked the screen printing on the shirts up 50% instead of 100% to keep the cost down.

For 12 grey gildan 5000 regular t-shirts (2 m, 4 xl and 6 3xl) with 2 color on the full back and 1 color left chest i quoted $214.25 + shipping. There are no screen charges from my wholesaler but i did tell the customer there is a one time artwork charge.

This sound too high guys?

Depends did they cut you a check? If yes, then your not too high. Keep in mind its only a dozen which is a fairly small order of shirts and therefore more work.

I haven't heard back at all from them so hopefully they get back to me. I'll follow up in a day if i don't hear anything.

Not counting the artwork charge $106 or so for simply placing a order is good profit IMO Pat.

who wants to burn screens and deal with clean up & reclaiming them for a 12 pc job?
Especially a 12 piece WHOLESALE job!

john 1, your avatar looks like Frank Fellers...isn't that some sort of copyright or image infringement?

I won't post where I would be in an open forum, but I've seen these retail $210-240 around here.

Textile screen printing is a large part of my business, so if it helps ya...
Retail I would be at $20.10 each for S-XL, $24.78 each for 2XL & up at that quantity. Total $269.28 plus tax.

I would have tried for 20.00+ But would have done it for a little less...Not great margin but acceptable....The key is keeping your time to a minimum....Even a small order often takes 3 hours to process...Order taking, payments, prepare po, receive and ship, followup, thank you card, etc. etc....

There are many contract shops that do jobs like this on a regular basis......But they have the latest technology that allow them to do in a few minutes what takes other shops much longer.....
