Over 64" vinyl rolls

Hi!

We recently had a vet customer who ordered a picture of a dog to their operating room wall. We ended up making it out of laminated polymer vinyl with overlap on an acm board that we mounted on the brick wall. Just following up on a comment our customer had; they were sort of bummed when we said that the image will be made out of tiles with overlap on (size of the board was about 2x2m) since we did not have any vinyl that would be as wide as the board. They would have liked to have the whole image made out of a single piece of vinyl on top of a single piece of board. (in the end we were able to make the overlap almost invisible, and if you do not know where to look you would not notice it at all)

Being curious, I started wondering if there are some manufacturers that make vinyl rolls wider than 64"? Our printer is only 64" but I'm just wondering because I've never had to think about this. I know that the big banner making houses have materials up to 3,2m and printers as big. Does vinyl in those sizes exist? We would not have use for it, but I'd just like to know for sure that the widest rolls are in fact 64".

You can get wider than 64" but might have to order from factory. It's not very common with vinyl for obvious... installation reasons.

Usually with large machines they just run multiple rolls of narrow media.

Next time outsource the board from someone who can print it directly.

I think it's safe to say that 60" wide is the largest common vinyl size.

Anything wider than that and you're looking at seams or going with some form of fabric/banner.

There are times where seams are inevitable and the customer just has to accept it.

You can get the ORAJET 3164 in 80 inches (actually 79) I know there are more in the product line this wide but I don't remember the numbers. Check with a distributor.
