Do what the client will love and pay for. EVERYTHING over that is your choice to do it for free - that is artistic license to do "over and above". That is your play time. NEVER expect to get paid for it because that is what makes the job fun.

I put no time in and get more money out . . .

I just can't bring myself to do ordinary.
I would hate this business if all I was doing was sticking letters on chit.
If I'm not challenged, then I'm bored to death.
I can think of many other ways to make money,
I do what I do for the love of it.
