I have been approached by our city to give them options for mounting a banner to the structure in the attached photo. But, they have given me stipulations which have made it difficult...
First off, they want the banner to be mounted within the 2 arched beams which stretch over the road, in only the right 1/3 of the arch (see the upright supports). Size of the banner will be roughly 24" x 30 feet.
The goal for them is to introduce this idea with little to no modification of the existing structure, so no welding/drilling etc. (yeah, I know....) So this leaves very few possibilities as far as I can see, bungees come to mind. Bungees will be hideous, and I see no way of securing bungees around the poles without drilling, or adding something else that would be really ugly, not to mention the glaring liability that this job may expose me to. I would imagine that if anything but bungees were used, wind-slits would also need to be used?
I'm just throwing this out here to see if anyone here at the Signs101 community may have some other ideas. We are super swamped at the moment and was given only 2 days to come up with some ideas for the city manager. I am supposed to talk with him again today, and I have nothing...
Any comments/feedback/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
