Paint Mask on Sunbrella

Is anyone painting lettering on Sunbrella fabric awnings?

We cut masks for a local awning manufacturer and have been using 3M 7125 (high performance) vinyl for the masks at their request.

Lately they have been finding the 3M is not adhering to the fabric as they are used to. Their previous mask supplier used a thicker vinyl, which appears to us to be an intermediate film and they prefer it. There is no marking on it to tell us the brand, but it's an unusual color, so we think it's Oracal 751.

Does anyone have a vinyl they would recommend for use on Sunbrella fabric?

We use just about any intermediate grade from any manufacturer. Make the first coat the same color as the awning and you won't have any worries when a little adhesion gives out.

We always use oracal 651. And do a little at a time and then rip it off. Use a brush do not roll it. And we like to do it on a table before stretching onto frame.
