Painting Komacel and or PVC

We are manufacturing HDU post and panel signs for exterior use. We are cladding the 4 x 4 posts with a product from a company named Versatex.

We need to coat the posts with a dark blue. I know there have been concerns with painting PVC with dark colors. I'm told to use heat reflective paint.

We use waterborne acrylics for health concerns. Would using a primer such as Zinsser 123 on the substrate before top coating do the trick? Or any suggestions would be appreciated

Thank you

We just installed 30" tall 3/4" thick PVC letters on a building and ended up painting the letters blue. Went to Sherwin Williams and they found a product for it. Ended up taking 2 coats with no primer being used. Job turned out great.
