Painting Urethane Foam

Do I need to use some sort of primer prior to painting HDU? The finish coat willl be a satin latex enamel for interior use if that matters.

Concensus is that you don't need a primer for adhesion, but it does help fill in the pores and give a smoother finish.

I prime with Bins shellac based primer. expensive but a light sanding leaves a very smooth surface
