Pallet pricing on cast material for trailer wraps, can anyone beat this?

I have 30 rolls of 7 year cast vinyl and laminate for immediate sale. Normal price is ~$550/vinyl and $450/lamiante.

All for sale at $200/roll for either vinyl or laminate.

This is perfect for flat installs or decals.

How does no-name Chinese vinyl perform/last? Not trolling, genuinely curious.

How does no-name Chinese vinyl perform/last? Not trolling, genuinely curious.

It's been a few years since I checked... but I was told China doesnt have any cast vinyl facilities, they only make calendared.

I bought a roll of chinese carbon fiber to play with - It was so flimsy and brittle. I wrapped a helmet with it, and I wrapped a helmet with 3M Carbon... And the chinese vinyl lifted off the next day... But it's a calander, so thats to be expected. How it performs on flat surfaces like doors / trailers, etc... I can't say! But they tend to do stuff very cheap in china because labor is so cheap... it's cheaper to pay someone to remove the wrap and re-wrap it every year than it is to get good material.


When I was in China I saw so many faded prints... So much vinyl bubbling or peeling... It's not like over here... Over there they go by the "If the person can understand what the sign says, who cares if its pretty" mentality. And I mean, theyre not wrong... As a sign guy I laughed at half the signs I saw, but I bet you not 1 other person did.

Being price conscious is definitely something you do look at, but don’t forget to consider the most expensive part of your project, which is the labor. just because material is in expensive and saves you money on the front end it could end up costing you more on the labor because material performs poorly and your installers take longer. Don’t be so cheap that if you have one little mistake ends up turning you upside down on the job… it is definitely a balance. good luck.

So true. Think about the headache this job could become because you tried to save some money on materials. Quote what you would normally use and sell on quality. There is always somebody that will do it cheaper.

It’s SO tough when you are excited and wanting to do a job BUT if the money isn’t right and you’re not making enough money to make it worth your time you might have to pass. My rule is that I’m not working my butt off to make hardly any profit. I’d rather spend time with family than barely break even

I would be hesitant to put a huge square footage of vinyl from any brand I didnt know on a bunch of trailers going down the road...if it fails no vinyl warranty will pay to strip and reapply, its a gamble...
If you are in business long term and they want to rebrand the trailers you have to think about removability...if you are going to see those trailers again a more expensive easily removable vinyl might be worth it and keep the installers happy...we tried to save time on install more than vinyl sometimes...

THERE WAS A TIME when all you had to do was BUY A PALLET LOAD to get pallet pricing
now you need to BUY A PALLET LOAD & beg with a tin cup to get the pricing you are entitled to

i realize that my "retirement business" is like a pimple of the ass of a real sign company & the sales manager of grimco won't need to be talked in from the roof because i am not buying from them anymore, but i have to rant

Been with Grimco for 15 years, bought two Latex 365's from them with plotters, laminators, and 100's of thousands in material... I also shop with Glantz and Fellers from time to time. Grimco has it's issues for sure. communication with their customers is probably my biggest gripe, when they stopped keeping 90% of their product in our local warehouse and started moving everything out of Atlanta it literally took them months to disclose that's what they were doing or if something was on backorder you wouldn't know till you called or emailed someone asking where your stuff was... and they won't bargain lower than the price on the website, even if you want to buy a truckload. But, I will say if it is in Atlanta they will get it to me next day in NC.
