Thanks for the input, we are currently switching over to VOIP

does anyone know where wireless headsets can be purchased for a RJ9 ports as that is what is on these phones?

plantronics is what was suggested but there is no way to justify that price

Generally, you can guy and headset for any phone with a wire receiver.

Setup Usually Goes:
Wall (RJ45) to Phone to Wireless Receiver to Headset

For me when I pick up my phone, I can switch to my headset by picking it up off the charger. When I pick it up, the headset goes dead and I set it down and I'm able to hear and speak from my headset.

Staples sells them, and a good one may cost you $$ but will give you the most battery life and quality.

As for making your own VOIP Server.. How does that compare to Magic Jack at that cost?

Magic Jack?! ROFL. There is NO comparison.

Plus this is a real phone system... full auto attendant, voice mail, hunt/ring groups, voice mail to email, etc, etc

The phones that we are getting are Polycom IP 335 and they have the dedicated RJ-9 ports on the back for the headsets. I was told that a special headset is needed not the typical ones for the standard phones

I'm not sure why... Like I said the headset I have plugs into the receiver on the phone which uses a standard receiver wire (not sure of the name) I have yet to see a phone that doesn't use this standard wire that goes from the phone to the receiver.

This is my headset

I got mine with the headset lifter:

Its an arm to pick up your receiver so you can pick up and hang up on call with the push of a button on your headset.

that headset will work directly on the phone with no lifter. that is what the PJ-9 port is for as it was explained to me

What we are looking for are some more budget friendly options for the
hands free. we have 4 phones going in and that is some serious coin for hands free. What I am having issues with is you can get a GOOD wireless bluetooth for your cell phone for under $100, why so much $ for a desktop?
