Looking to do a 30'x 9' sheet rock wall with a mural.

Is Photo tex the material I should consider using or is there something better.
I expect to print all the way to the edge.
Should I laminate it

Finally, any idea of pricing. I assume square ft and I'll add in my installation

Any comments

What printer are you using?

If you can use the solvent version of Phototex you really don't need to over-laminate it.

if you are using a uv curable printer we would recommend phototex OPAS.

we find on our uv printer, no need to laminate. the ink is very durable and scratch-resistant. it sticks to almost anything and is opaque. definitely our go to wall mural now. got tired of others peeling off walls with all the new paints, etc.

we tried same roll on an eco-solvent and the inks scratch easily, in fact, using a squeegee or felt squeegee to put up showed marks.

We pretty much only use the OPAS as it has blockout features and easy to install. This is my favorite roll to roll print media in the industry. I love wall murals using it or using it for short term overlays on jobsite signs. $12 to $15 per square foot installed is our range. You can use liquid wall armor to help protect the image. Fellers sell it.

When we add a latex we will avoid the odor from our Eco Solvent and UV printer.

You should also check out the GlassAdHere film for window based projects.

My intention is to use the HP360. It's just faster.

Does using the Latex, change any of the above comments

Can I use the Opas for this ?

You can use any of the versions with Latex but if you use the Aqueous versions you will defiantly want to over-laminate.

Use the Phototex OPA-S. It prints GREAT on the latex. You can seam it with overlaps when you use the opaque version.
No need to laminate it, print to the edges, it'll never curl, shrink or stretch.
We just did this one a couple weeks ago: http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinna...wth-triggers-logistics-firm-s.html?ana=fbk#i1

BigFish on here offers a phototex alternative, and some specialty similar films that offer metallics, etc; I have received some samples but we haven't ordered any rolls in to test yet.

I have a material that will work better than that one and its priced better and it comes in multiple thickness's. Phototex is over $1 sq.ft in most instances, my 7 Mil is $0.72 sq.ft and works just like the other brand. I also carry it on a 15 and 17 mil version.

For what it's worth, I have a 360 and have all sorts of colour consistency and alignment issues on multi-piece prints. I managed to get a decent sized wall (7 drops IIRC) to align to within 2mm (most of it less than 1mm) with no colour issues on the Photo Tex by profiling it as CMYK only (no light cyan or magenta) and turning OMAS off. Might have been a fluke, but the theory behind it is in the thread below and for it to have worked the Photo Tex must be pretty stable. I'm certainly going to be using it as a go-to product for the forseeable future.
