In Photoshop CS how do you make a pictures edges fade away? I'm not sure if I'm using the right term for it.

Yes I know CS is old and I have CS4 but dislike it.

select all, select border, set border size, feather 5-10px, delete

Best way is to mask it.. and feather the masks edge.. either with a soft brush or select>feather....

Use omg's technique not jhill's, never work destructively if you can avoid it (which you almost entirely can now, and is one of the reasons to use later versions over earlier versions).
