Hi, I got a problem with my Roland.
The pinch roll error is occured.
I changed the sensor, the flad cable and the little board on top the cutter. Nothing helps.
What a nightmare

I did a sensor check and recognized, the sensor (the new one) doesn´t work.

Any ideas?

Is there an other importand board?
I checked the servo board as well. Nothing helps.

Thank in advance

Yes, it is. :)
I can recognize the sensor working while using the sensor check. Only the pinchroll sensor shows on every time. That mean a star ist every time on. If I disconnect the pinch roll sensor from the little board, it shows a star as well.

Any ideas?

checked, all OK

May be an other electrical short?

Should I change the mother board? The sorvo board is changed too

I´m goint to change the mainboard.
Fortunately I have another Roland to change spare parts.

Any other ideas?

Which sensor works? I suggest you should test another sensor at the tool carriage, e. g. the cropmark sensor. It could be a shortcut that the sensor is permanently on.

The flat cable you have changed, is that a used one from your other machine? Try a new one. What happened when you press the "tool up/down"-Button on the keyboard?

I do support for that machines since they are on the market and I never had an other reason for that issue than a broken flat cable. Because of bending the cable is needed for mounting it, it's very easy to guide and connect it in the wrong direction on one side. Because of that I don't believe that the flat cable is connected the right way until I see photos of the connections on both sides.

Thank Frank, (Are we able to write in German?)
I work since years with Roland and I had never such a problem.
I´m shure the flad bed cable is in the right way. :) Because I puted in in the wrong way first :)
While the sensor check I can recognize the Crop mark sensor working if I move the carriage from left to right.

I´ll check the up and down prozedure.

The W Sensor shows a star every time, that starnge.
I puted a new cable in, I´ve got it from Digiprint-supplies. I think is a new one.

Unfortunately is my second printer a printer without tool carriage. This is a Roland SJ745EX and unfortunatele the mainboard is a mainboard without centronix. I changed the dip switches but it doesn´t work perfectly in the SC540.

Do you have the Peck3 or Peck4, because with the CoPeck6, which I have, is only able to get parameters. I´m not ble to put parameters to a pritner with the CoPeck6.
Do you have a software to change parameters or to open the parameter file?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I checkt this issue with up and down the tool but the printer isn´t setup. Well, it doesn´t work :-(
The crop mark sensor is working, that means, the cable must be right.
I measured al the lines in the cable and there wasn´t any electrical short.

Bye the way, I did the sensor check also on my SJ745 and the "W" sensor is on all the time, as well. I have no idea way. But the setup is working.

(Are we able to write in German?)

Yes, we could, but we are in an english language forum, and it would be rude to use a language which most of the people will not understand. We won't do that in a personal discussion too.

This is a Roland SJ745EX and unfortunatele the mainboard is a mainboard without centronix. I changed the dip switches but it doesn´t work perfectly in the SC540.

The Boards are different between 540/640/740 and 545/645/745 (since 2005). I'm not shure if a new board works in an old printer.

While the sensor check I can recognize the Crop mark sensor working if I move the carriage from left to right.

If the Cropmark Sensor works it should be that the cable is correctly connected.

Bye the way, I did the sensor check also on my SJ745 and the "W" sensor is on all the time, as well

The CJ540 checks the position of the pinch rollers, the SJ745 don't.

I have no other idea. It could be that the reason is quite simple, but without having a personal view on the machine I will not have an additional idea.

Thanks,
is it possible the printer has lose the right position?
I would like to format the firmware with an old one.
Next week I know more.

Thanks

Cable

is the print head pulled by a belt or a cable on that model? We just had a printer in here where the belt was slipping causing a pinch roller error

Hi Robert,
this is a cable on my model.
A friend of mine dolt my, it could be the scan motor. I´ll change it today and will see what happens. :)

Thanks in advance

I together,
I had a nice phone conference with a roland technician. He told my, I changed all, what he would change.
Is it possible in your opinion that my supplier sent me a defect tool carriage board?
I order a new one, because the pinch roll sensor has to work while moving the carriage.

I hope that is the error.
I keep you informed.

Hi together, the problem is solved.
I changed the mainboard with a used one, and it works.
Did anyone repair a roland mainboard? Because the unsed Roland board isn´t mine. :-(
Another question, I have a old board on stock, but I can´t get any message on the display and the RJ45 board gets no engine. Is on the board a fuse, or something like that?
Maybe I could repair an old main board to use that in my SC540.

Thanks for helping

Stefan
