Plastic for wall holder ?

I need to quote some name plates that mount to the wall.
Found the holders, but need to make the plastic inserts.
They will get lettered in vinyl, so don't need the engraving plastic that has two colors.
The holders are 2" x 8" and accept 1/16" thick material. (Image attached)
These will go in a school, so don't want anything that might shatter into sharp pieces.
I use a lot of pvc, but it's a little soft and think it might scratch or dent too easy.
Any ideas which plastic will work best and be easy enough to cut smoothly without special tools.
Thanks,
Tony

Thanks, had already looked there...I'm looking for an alternative for the engraving plastic.
Sheets or white or other color(s) of plastic 1/16" thick thats fairly tough.
Will get vinyl lettering...not engraved.
Not sure what material would be best..pvc scratches easy.

You can use:
Polyester sheet A-PET or PET-G (Veralite, Axpet, Vivak)
Solid Polycarbonate sheet (Marlon, Palsun, Lexan)
Solid PVC sheet (Komadur)
HIPS (high impact polystyrene)
