Plotter for cutting Paint protection film

Hello ,
Which plotter would be the best value for money for cutting Paint protection films (around 0.25mm Thickness). My budget would be in the range of 1200$ to 1600$ though nothing hard and fast. The media would be 24" wide.

Are there any special features that a plotter requires to cut this kind of film. I would not want to cut the backing sheet, only the Film.

Will be using it for making skins for electronic devices.

Thanx

Most any vinyl cutters will cut paint mask. Most use a 60 degree blade but we use a 45 degree on our Vinyl express machine from Sign Warehouse.

I've got an old roland pc900 that i still use for fine cutting or cutting paint protection film. 3M stuff anyway and its only 12 in. wide so a stika should work. Get the guy to do a test run before you buy, couple of circles and squares, easy

cheers

geez do i get a prize for only 17 posts in 5 years. I'm just shy & retiring....

I don't think it takes anything very specific to cut. I ran a few test pieces through the Roland SP540 to see if the machine was capable of cutting it before we got into it, in the end we had to get a new plotter due to software incompatibilities. We're currently using a Graphtec FC7000MK2 30" which has been flawless after the initial learning curve with our software. Who do you intend on using for your templates? Maybe they have a list of compatible brands?

I dont know if the budget is flexible at all.. but I would do everything I could to get a 30" especially if you plan on doing alot of bumpers. 24 covers alot, but I've had to pull out the 30 far more often that I thought I would. If you have a specific type of vehicle you're going to be doing alot of, let me know and I can check Xpel's templates to see what kind of sizes you're going to run into most often.

Good luck

Sabre, I will be using this for making skins for electronic devices by cutting the paint protection film...So precision is rather needed..So which model of graphtec would you suggest ??

or is there any compatible list/brand of plotters for cutting PPF ?
