pnc 1100 mind of its own

Hello, firstly, sorry that my first post is a question, i only found you guys while on google

I have a trusty (until now) roland pnc1100, which has always done what little cutting we do very well indeed.
until now that is, when cutting anything (have tried various files now)
it will cut fine, then at some point, normally 2 to 4 times, the cutter will cut a long line, away from the design, then return to a position back on the design, it will off shoot width and length and sometimes the off shoot can be a few feet, or a coupel of inches

i have no idea why this is happening, and how it can be solved

would anyone of you kind people here, be able to offer me some advice please?

Little background, this was my uncles business untill he passed away 2 years ago, we now only do the odd job for his old customers and some small bits for new ones. so my personal experience is quite limited

thanks in hope for any help

martin

We had a pnc1100, well still do. It is 15-20 year technology, and if you hook it up to a new fast computer it seems to get confused. One thing to try is make sure you are using the serial not the paralel. Some reason this got us by hooking it up with aserial cable this seemed to happen less. What software are you using?

take off the top cover..........................4 screws........their is a WHITE PLASTIC STRIP in there.some times the END of this will come lose, or over the years this strip can become damaged or frayed.........might need a new one.
