i dont see the need for all your calculations. and neither does corel. you just making it complicated.
IN COREL ON THE WORK PAGE: type the word or words. hit the pick tool, look up on the OBJECT SIZE toolbar....... it has horizontal & vertical INCH, DECIMAL of the text!!!! you can go into those boxes, change it to the highth width you want....only thing that stays points is how you're text is set in points when you type it...........which dont mean crap unless your workspace is only an 8.5 x11 sheet of paper.
What you're describing will only work when typing in all capitals with flat tops and flat bottoms, and it is precisely the same thing I just outlined above. Except for one thing -- this needs to be done on a single upper-case letter with a flat top and flat bottom -- and only then, when the spec'd letter height has been set, does one proceed with entering the rest of the text. This is necessary for obvious reasons, of course -- especially when there are descenders and over-height lower-case and rounded top or bottom caps or optically-sized "A"s and "V"s and "W"s and "N"s.... etc. etc.
And what calculations are you referring to? I don't think I suggested any with regards to setting letter height.
