Post and panel installation

I am looking to start providing and installing post and panel. I know you can buy a kit on Grimco and from others for a couple hundred bucks. This looks like something I can get the parts from my local home depot (pressure treated wood with a vinyl sleeve). The question is for a 4x4 and 4x8 is ACM 3mm the standard? How do I attach the board to the posts? Do I leave 2 feet below and 2 feet into the ground? This is for a construction site to stay about a year.

Make sled type stands from 4"x4" posts and use at least 6mm acm. Use sign brackets to attach. The 8', ya might hafta go up to 10mm.

The question you have about how to attach the sign to the post is the reason why the kits exist. If you use a kit, they are made to hold the 3mm or 6mm ACP by slotting a PVC post with hardware that keeps it from moving. That type of kit there is no lumber involved.

If you're going to use a 4x4 with a post sleeve you'll have to use either brackets or more lumber to frame the sign. The available brackets require a 6mm or 10mm (1/4" or 1/2") thick sign.

I like making signs
1. Don't mess around making your own. Get an account on 4Ever and just buy them then you mark them up to the retail cost. They custom make them to your specifications and cut the slit in for the signboard and you have them in a few days. At least order the first one so you have a template. You want a good product that will hold up. You need cross braces on back also. I don't install so I order these, make the sign board and hand it all to the customer. I have never had anyone have any issues.

2. I would also suggest a sled because they can move them around to other sites. The sign below has been around plenty. The height is up to you and the customer. I prefer the about 3-4'. Do you get frost in NJ? The sled requires no digging. You can paint it white if you want.

Sooper U brackets, I would use 3 on each side.
They make them for the center also.

I have also seen alum angle with holes drilled in it.

4x4 posts and 2x4 from hardware store. Use 6" deck screws to attach the 2x4s to the inside of the 4x4. This one I put extra 2x4s because it was a 5'x10' sign... but for 4'x8's, I just do the two horizontal 2x4's. Assemble it on the ground where you're going to dig the holes, that way you can lift it into place. If it's double sided... use coroplast or paper to protect the face when you flip it over. Attach the face with painted to match screws and small washers every 24"

The way Texas has it is probably the best way but......... it seems like once a customer thinks it looks better with a double sided panel on the inside of the posts and not two single sided panels mounted on the outside of the posts, there may be no way of talking them out of it.
The double sided panel is a very flimsy way to install a sign in my opinion.
