I'm trying to wrap my head around why it would make any difference at all.
Oboy!....as a pilot and aerodynamics geek, some of us are pretty interested! I've seen serrated tape just a few thousands of an inch thick, applied to props and the wings of gliders etc.....they can trip the boundary layer, and over a large area, make quite a 'difference' in the airflow.
I don't think this is the case here, but interesting.....if you wanted to affect airflow, you could probably achieve the same effect by printing multiple layers of ink in a pattern.
Big caveat, does any of this compare to the dirt, bugs, paint chips, and rubber that get ground into the front of a car in the first few laps?
....all this 'investigation' sounds like a bit of overkill, to be sure.
