print on a vs640 cut on a sp540I

I bought My SP (540 I) a year and a half ago and I bought my VS 640 About 7 months ago. I have a lot of print, Lam and cut work going on so I want to keep my 640 printing due to the faster speed, gas out, Lam., and then do the cutting on the 540. I am using 54" materials so size is not an issue. I am just not sure how to best take the original print/cut file from the 640 to the 540 or if it is even possible. I have the rep that sold me the 640 telling me it is near impossible and my rep that sold me the 540 saying it is easy. The problem is the rep for the 540 is out of the office until next week and I need to be running this all through the weekend.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks Dave.

You should be able to just send the print job to the 640 and then after lam, send the cut job to the 540. What software are you using?

versaworks. I forgot to mention the printers are networked on the same computer if that makes any difference. So you are saying Import the same eps file to the 540's job que and select to just cut?

Your not being an ***. That is what I am going to try, and I should have just tried that but sometimes the obvious only smacks you in the head after the fact. Initially I thought there may be a way to take the file from one Que and drag it to the other and select cut only.

It should work, dont center on media, make sure when you send the cut that it has the same x and y position as in the print file.

Well that did not work. I opened the eps on the 540 selected cut only and it did not look for the registration marks it just shot out and started cutting, and obviously not in the correct spots. am I missing something?

 I did not have print crop marks selected when I sent it to cut so it did not look for them. going to try again, pretty sure that is it though.
