I have 3 mimaki Jf 1631 and on a occasion we will have a job just stop printing right in the middle of the job, when it does the green light flashed and the display on the control panel flashed also. Well this morning is a first...it is happening on all 3 printers and I have no idea why.

My error is

error occurred during output(w) - a devise attached to the ststem is not functioning(31) getoverlappedresults

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

DIY Printer Fixing Guide
Reinstall your USB driver and try using a different USB port. The error you are getting is saying that the USB communication is timing out. It could be due to a corrupted driver, bad USB port or cable. If all 3 printers are failing, I would say it is the driver is corrupted.

We drive each printer with a different computer, corrupt driver on all 3?

I am at a loss!!!!

Hello I have 3 jf1631 printers and within the last month and half we have started having issues with print jobs just stopping right in the middle of the print, when this happens the green light post flashed and so does the display on the control panel and we get an error message in the rasterlink software

error occurred during output(w) - a devise attached to the system is not functioning(31) getoverlappedresults

We have done a good deal of research online and tried about everything we can, new usb cord, new computer, unplugging everything etc etc. Problem is it is very random but seems to happen more at night than it does in the day, but that is about the only thing we can notice. Like I said we have 3 printers and they all seem to do it but there is not consistent behavior. One day it will be printer 3 and 1 & 2 work fine, the next day it will be printer 1 & 3 and 2 will be fine. Every printer is being controlled by its own computer.

I have seen some online say they turned reloaded software or updated and it fixed the problem but I am not sure. All I know is it is really slowing us down and wasting a ton of material. We have had these printers for years with no issues in the same environment so what could cause this?

I did find one conversation very similar to our issue but I tried to update software and it said mine was up to date

Here is link to that

Are the computers clean? i.e. no virus or other malware? Too many processes running in the background can be overloading the PC and causing communication over USB to time out.

Look at the resource monitor while its printing to get an idea of whether the computer is just too busy and causing time out over USB.

Do they have enough memory? Virtual memory (pagefile) reads and writes can bring a computer to its knees. Add more RAM or use a SSD for the pagefile drive.

Are we talking about Rasterlink5 computers? Do they have a massive number of jobs already printed? Can you delete some (most) of the old jobs?

I have a windows 8 machine that the USB ports would drop out and then come right back. I fought that machine for months until I replaced the chipset driver and that took care of it.

I wont be following this thread. I just wanted to throw some ideas at you. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Are all 3 computers connected to the same internet router? Sometimes a router (wireless or not) can get a bug inside them and mess with any of the computers communications ports(such as changing security settings for USB, ethernet and more). The fix may be just a new router and /or completely restoring all computers with fresh copy of Windows and reinstalling all rip software.
