Printer not printing crop marks for cutting....

Hi Sign People!

We have a Roland Soljet ProIII xj-740 printer that we successfully have printing the circle cropmarks to take to our Roland Camm-1 Pro plotter to cut the ContourCut lines on our files. However, we just bought a Roland SoljetIII xj-640 and it is not printing the circle cropmarks. I have tried to make sure all the settings are the same on both printers, and all I can figure is that there is a setting in the printer itself that I don't know about. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

You tell the machine to print crop marks in the RIP. You may have your original setup set to print crop marks as a default but didn't set up the new printer for the same default setting.

I do have the settings in the RIP (I use VersaWorks) set with the Crop Marks (Print&Cut Alignment) box checked. The little "A" shows up next to my file, and the dotted red lines where the cuts are show up when I drag in down to my plotter queue... the only thing that is different is that the printer is not printing the black dots for my plotter to read.

Does anyone else have any ideas on my problem? Like where the setting to print crop marks by default on the printer?

Are you getting an error message at the printer? The crop marks are printed outside the actual print area, so if your print is close to the edges of the vinyl, there may not be room for the crop marks.
